Frequently Asked Questions
How long do sessions last?
The first intake session typically ranges from 45-60 minutes. Subsequent sessions are 55 minutes, unless otherwise discussed. Extended sessions are available, but must be scheduled accordingly ahead of time.
How long will I be in therapy?
Therapy is a journey, and it’s different for everyone. Oftentimes, clients begin with more frequent sessions when working toward specific goals, and then taper down toward maintenance or general self-care sessions as needed.
I will make recommendations based on what you share in your intake session for frequency of sessions, but ultimately, you get to decide frequency of sessions and when you’d like our time of working together to conclude.
How will I know if it’s “working”?
If you’re feeling better, bolder, making different decisions than you normally might, looking at things from a different perspective, experiencing a decrease in symptoms, or if you just enjoy sessions and feel lighter afterwards.
Occasionally, when we first start to address or uncover difficult things, we may take steps backward before taking steps forward. This is also very common and can be a signal you’re on the right path.
Therapeutic success is different on a client by client basis and is only determined by YOU.
What should I expect at the intake (first) session?
The first session is all about getting to know you and beginning to build a trusting therapist/client relationship. It is much more structured than a typical session, with many questions to guide our time together. Before the conclusion of the session, we will set treatment goal(s) that feel right for you.
Am I able to meet with you in person?
Unfortunately, not at this time. I operate fully remote/virtual.
